Providing a trauma informed therapy means that as a therapist I am aware of the impacts that trauma has on the brain, the body and the mind, and I will be able to ensure a safe and confidential space for you to discuss your personal trauma.
Please keep in mind that experiencing trauma is a personal and subjective experience, and trauma is actually a very common human experience. You don’t need to have any formal diagnosis to have had experienced a traumatic event or ongoing trauma.
There are many symptoms/reactions that occur due to the impacts of experiencing trauma:
☼ Hyperreactive/hypervigilance (eg. feeling jumpy)
☼ Feelings of being out of control (extreme emotions)
☼ Anger issues
☼ Disassociation
☼ Shutting down
☼ Engaging in harmful behaviours
If this resonates with you, a trauma informed approach can be used to support your healing process.

Eating Disorders
I have a special interest in working with people with disordered eating, body image concerns, and/or who have received an eating disorder diagnosis. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve received a diagnosis or not, if you are struggling with eating, food, body image, you are in the right place.
I worked in public health service, delivering eating disorder treatment within the outpatient program. I have seen firsthand how debilitating an eating disorder can be, yet I have seen people overcome their inner demons and recover.
If you are feeling ready to start eating disorders treatment, that’s a massive step and you should feel proud you’re at this point. Eating disorders are complex and often require some form of medical monitoring by your doctor. This may be a requirement of working together, and something we will discuss before we get started.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E) is an evidence based treatment for adults with an eating disorder. Through structured 50 minute sessions, CBT-E focuses on addressing the current factors that are maintaining the eating problem.
CBT-E is an interactive treatment, which involves a level of commitment and participation from the client to challenge their eating disorder through behaviour change. This will look differently for everyone and we will work collaboratively together to understand what is maintaining your eating disorder and what changes need to be made to fight the eating disorder. CBT-E uses a range of practical tools and strategies to assist with this process.
CBT-E being a structured and manualised treatment, is delivered across 20 sessions. It may be deemed appropriate to extend treatment to up to 40 sessions, depending on the severity of the eating disorder.
You may be eligible for receiving a Medicare rebate through accessing an Eating Disorder Plan (EDP). This will give you access to a reduced fee for your sessions. Please discuss this with your GP.

SSCM is a flexible treatment approach and has an emphasis on improving overall quality of life. Sessions will be 50 minutes and treatment duration is medium to long-term.
